KTXS spoke with Bryan Allen, the Superintendent of Clyde CISD, to find out how they’re providing support during this hard time.
“All I could think was, ‘please let this not be one of our kids,'” Allen said. “Didn’t even run through my mind that it could have been two of them.”

“It’s a difficult day,” he said. “Extremely hard for all of us. Fortunately, we’ve had so many people reach out and offer support.”

Allen said the district hopes to hold some type of memorial for the students who lost their lives.
“We don’t know when the services are going to be yet,” he said. “We will probably do something kind of around that, to make sure that we don’t clash or overlap.”

Allen said as soon as he got the call, he immediately hopped in his truck and drove to the scene.
“It’s heartbreaking when you pull up on that scene,” he said. “We already had staff members there, and they’re in tears, and kids are in tears and it’s just a horrible, horrible side. It’s the last thing you ever want to hear or see.”

KTXS asked:
“What is the district doing to provide support to the students and staff?”
“We have grief counselors available on campuses, to support both the students and the staff,” Allen said. “One of the things we talked about this morning is that our staff can’t support the students if they’re not supporting themselves. So, we want to be sure that we’re taking care of the kids and the adults at the same time In addition to the grief counselors, we had therapy dogs come in today.”
