EL PASO, TEXAS (KFOX14/CBS4) — Students at Del Valle High School protested against federal immigration and enforcement policies on Monday.

A student group called Youth Against Injustice organized a protest at Del Valle High School on Monday afternoon, where students gathered after school and marched in a large group, carrying signs with messages against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), such as “ICE Out.”

The protest at Del Valle High School follows last week’s protests across the borderland, which saw students at other high schools walk out of classes to express their concerns over federal immigration and enforcement policies.

Protests against immigration enforcement have been escalating across the nation, with demonstrations not just happening in Texas, but in Minneapolis, Los Angeles, and New York.

People across the country also participated in a “National Shutdown” last Friday in response to immigration enforcement across the country, resulting in the deaths of an ICU nurse and a mother of three in Minneapolis.

The shutdown called for supporters to stay home from work and school and not go shopping in an effort to “stop funding ICE.”
