AUSTIN, Texas — A Round Rock man was arrested Monday on charges related to the alleged robbery of an Austin Telco Federal Credit Union, according to U.S. Attorney Justin R. Simmons for the Western District of Texas.

Syntedrick Tramaine Brown, age not specified, of Round Rock, Texas, allegedly entered the credit union on January 28 at approximately 10:09 a.m., wearing a disguise that included a brown wig, a brightly colored headband, red reflective sunglasses, a black mask, a dark hooded sweatshirt, and a reflective yellow safety vest, as stated in court documents. The criminal complaint alleges that Brown climbed over the teller counter wielding what appeared to be a semiautomatic pistol, instructing employees to lie on the floor and not look at him. He then allegedly directed the bank manager to remove U.S. currency from a cash machine, placing it in a black plastic trash bag, and inquired if the money included any “funny money” or “trackers.”

Surveillance footage reportedly shows Brown exiting the credit union at approximately 10:16 a.m. and driving away in a stolen vehicle. The investigation revealed that approximately $113,000 was stolen from the credit union.

On February 2, FBI agents executed a search warrant at an apartment, discovering evidence linked to the robbery, including items matching the disguise seen in surveillance images and a substantial amount of U.S. currency, according to the criminal complaint.

Brown faces one count of bank robbery and, if convicted, could face up to 20 years in prison. A federal district court judge will determine the sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

The FBI and Austin Police Department are investigating the case, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Alan Buie prosecuting. The criminal complaint is an allegation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
