Black Art in America (BAIA), a Georgia-based advocacy and educational organization, has announced that its annual BAIA Fine Art Print Fair will be held at the Houston Museum of African American Culture, from Friday, February 6, through Sunday, February 8.
Previously held in Atlanta and Washington, D.C., this is the second year the fair will visit Houston.
Among hundreds of Black printmakers to be showcased at the fair are four featured artists: Jamaal Barber, an Atlanta-based printmaker who appeared on MTV’s The Exhibit: Finding the Next Great Artist in 2023; Atlanta painter and printmaker Traci Mims, known for politically incisive woodcut portraiture; Katrina Andry, a New Orleans-based maker of large-scale prints; and Michael Ellison, long regarded for innovative, experimental printmaking techniques.

Other programming during the fair will include The Power of the Print: Legacy and Wealth Through Fine Art Graphics, a conversation with Keith A. Golden, a Denver gallerist and publisher. Mr. Golden will speak on influential print portfolios, including projects by Sam Gilliam, Richard Mayhew, David Driskell, Paul Goodnight, Najee Dorsey, and others.
Ms. Andry will present Edible Magic / Don’t Touch My Hair, an artist talk on Black womanhood and objectification followed by a printmaking demonstration. Mr. Barber will also give a talk and demonstration, and San Antonio art collectors Edwin and Paula Miles will present Encounters With Legends: What 30 Years of Collecting Has Taught Us.
