A 27-year-old Houston man has been arrested and charged in the death of a 32-year-old woman leaving a Houston club Sunday night.

Enrique Acevedo Barocio, 27, is charged with intoxication manslaughter in Harris County’s 497th Criminal District Court following an auto-pedestrian crash that took place late Sunday in the 2400 block of Pierce Street south of downtown Houston, according to a release from the Houston Police Department.

The identity of the woman has not been released by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, pending the notification of family members, according to the release.

Police allege Barocio was driving a blue Ford Expedition that was traveling eastbound on Pierce Street at a high rate of speed late Sunday night when the vehicle struck a pedestrian and several parked vehicles.

The woman killed was leaving a club and crossing the street when the crash occurred. She died at the scene, police said in the release.

Authorities allege that Barocio, who works as a barber, showed signs of intoxication at the scene before he was arrested, according to Harris County court records.

His bond was set at $250,000, according to Harris County records. He remained in the Harris County Jail Tuesday and was scheduled to be in court Wednesday.
