A 75-year-old woman was identified after an apartment fire Sunday evening, according to the Dallas County medical examiner’s office.

Linda Jewel Scott died at 7:04 p.m. in her home, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Firefighters responded to a fire alarm call around 6:41 p.m. at an apartment complex located at 2359 Highland Road, according to a previous statement from Dallas Fire-Rescue.

First responders forced their way into a first-floor apartment, where the alarm could be heard, after knocking and not getting an answer.

Once there, they found Scott inside and pulled her out of the apartment. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The fire was extinguished around 7:26 p.m., according to the statement.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
