Just in time for Valentine’s Day, a new study by SmartAsset ranks Dallas as the singles capital of Texas.
According to the website’s data analysis, 45.8% of Dallas residents age 15 and older are single and have never been married, the highest rate in the state. SmartAsset says 38% of Dallas residents are married, and 9.3% are divorced.
Though Dallas is No. 1 in Texas, it’s only 33rd nationally in SmartAsset’s ranking. Detroit tops the list with 57.4% of residents being single and never married, followed by Boston (56.6%) and Rochester, N.Y. (56.4%). The site used 2024 data from the U.S. Census Bureau and examined 115 cities with populations of 100,000 or more for which information was available.
Other North Texas cities in the ranking include Irving (No. 84, 38.8%), Fort Worth (No. 86, 38.7%), Arlington (No. 88, 38.4%) and Grand Prairie (No. 100, 36%).
