LPD to close portions of Marsha Sharp Freeway Thursday for crash investigations

  • February 4, 2026

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – The Lubbock Police Department’s Major Crash Unit will close two portions of the Marsha Sharp Freeway Thursday morning to investigate two collisions that happened over the weekend.

Police will shut down the 4600 block of the westbound lanes of the freeway at 9 a.m. Thursday, with traffic diverted to the access road. The closure is expected to last about 45 minutes.

Investigators will then move to the eastbound main lanes in the 1700 block of the freeway and will divert traffic to Ave. Q and the access road. This second closure should take about 30 minutes.

Police are asking motorists to avoid both areas if possible. Drivers who find themselves in either location are asked to stay alert and pay attention to officers’ directions.
