Known for its practicality and affordability, IKEA continues to add new locations in Texas, but what about El Paso?
The global home furnishings brand that originated in Sweden opened a handful of new locations in 2025, including a 44,000-square-foot store in the Rio Grande Valley, a small-format store in San Marcos, a 63,000-square-foot location in Dallas, and a second store set to open in Webster, near Houston.
With its expansion in the Lone Star State, the El Paso Times reached out to the company’s press department to ask whether there were any plans to open a location farther west in the state, in El Paso.
Is IKEA coming to El Paso?
In an email to El Paso Times, the IKEA press team writes it’s a ‘no’ for plans to bring a store to El Paso:
“At IKEA, we are always looking at new opportunities for expansion and growth. As we continue to transform our business, we are considering new ways to meet our customers’ needs across the U.S. However, IKEA has not announced any plans for a new location in the El Paso, TX area,” the email said.
El Paso has a pick-up location
While there is no store planned for the area, El Paso does have a pickup location at 7 Leigh Fisher Boulevard, Suite C, (near the airport) if you’re shipping furniture or large orders (over 50 pounds), which is operated by a third-party provider.
Some locations require a minimum merchandise subtotal of $35 or more to qualify for pick-up service and there’s a $10 fee to collect your order. For orders under $50, collection is $5, according to the IKEA website.
IKEA store near me
The closest IKEA store to El Paso is more than 400 miles away in Tempe, Arizona — that translates to a six-hour drive.
If you prefer to take a road trip through Texas, you might want to make a stop in San Marcos. That store opened in 2025 and is about 600 miles away from El Paso.
