HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Music, steps, and smiles. That’s what brings the ReRe Steppas together. They are a soul line dancing group from southwest Houston, fueled by rhythm and the love of dancing.

“If you like dancing, if it’s your therapy, come on down,” one member said.

Soul Line Dancing has a long history of bringing people together. From weddings to reunions, the dance brings people of all ages onto the floor. Renita Cooksey is the founder of the ReRe Steppas.

“There is a community of people who are like-minded in wanting to dance, and it’s a sisterhood. They just come and let down their hair and have fun for two and a half hours.”

Dancers of all backgrounds and experience levels are welcome. Visit the ReRe Steppas on Facebook for information on their next gathering.

In the video above, we jump into a class to discuss soul line dancing and how the music and movement bring people together.
