The hottest team in District 6-6A is the Plano East boys basketball team.

Not only are the Panthers on the verge of another playoff berth, but they are also tied for first place in District 6-6A.

Plano East improved to 10-2 in district play following a 61-52 road win over crosstown rival Plano on Tuesday. The Panthers’ win, their sixth straight, moved them into a tie with 10-2 Allen for first place in the district standings. Plano East and Allen will play for the second time this season next Tuesday at Allen. Allen won the first matchup, 61-49, at Plano East on Jan. 9.

The middle quarters proved to be the difference in Tuesday’s game between Plano East and Plano. After trailing 18-15 at the end of the first quarter, Plano East outscored Plano 34-17 over the second and third quarters to rally into the lead. The Panthers led 32-23 at halftime and 49-35 at the end of the third quarter.
