The Boston Celtics were severely short-handed on the second night of a back-to-back against a tough Houston Rockets team on Wednesday night. It didn’t matter.

Without Jaylen Brown (hamstring/knee), Sam Hauser (thumb), and Anfernee Simons (reported trade), the C’s cruised to a 114-93 win at the Toyota Center. Derrick White stepped up in their absence with a game-high 28 points and eight assists.

Ron Harper Jr. also delivered for the C’s in his first NBA start with 11 points and nine rebounds. Payton Pritchard had another nice night off the bench with 27 points.

The C’s will go for five straight wins when they host the Miami Heat on Friday night.
