1. Texas AG Paxton sues Bexar County for using funds to help undocumented immigrants
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has sued Bexar County over a program that uses county funds to help undocumented immigrants who need legal support in deportation cases.
The suit, filed on Feb. 4, is similar to one that Paxton filed in December in Harris County, which was struck down by a district judge. At the time, then County Attorney Christian Menefee, who was recently elected to be the U.S. Representative for the 18th Congressional District, called the lawsuit a “cheap political stunt.”
2. Musk vows to put data centers in space and run them on solar power but experts have their doubts
Elon Musk vowed this week to upend another industry just as he did with cars and rockets — and once again he’s taking on long odds.
The world’s richest man said he wants to put as many as a million satellites into orbit to form vast, solar-powered data centers in space — a move to allow expanded use of artificial intelligence and chatbots without triggering blackouts and sending utility bills soaring.
3. Texas Instruments to acquire Austin-based Silicon Laboratories
Texas Instruments has agreed to acquire Austin-based Silicon Laboratories for a cash transaction that is expected to be worth $7.5 billion, according to a joint press release from both companies.
The transaction, which will see Silicon Labs shareholders receive a $231 per share buyout, is expected to close in 2027, subject to regulatory approval.
