A light City Council agenda Monday night put the spotlight squarely on the Sachse Police Department’s annual year-end review, which showed fewer violent crimes despite an increase in overall calls for service.
Police Chief Bryan Sylvester and Assistant Chief Steve Baxter reported that while total crime increased modestly in 2025, violent offenses declined, continuing a trend the department attributes to proactive enforcement and community engagement. Council took no action following the presentation.
According to the report, total crime rose 6% in 2025. Violent crime declined by 4%, while nonviolent crime increased 11%. The department responded to 841 calls for service, up from 791 in 2024.
