A Fort Worth man accused of killing his roommate was booked into the Tarrant County jail on a murder charge with a bond set at $100,000, according to county records.

Aaron Daniel Renteria, 42, was arrested January 31 and remains in custody at the Tarrant County Corrections Center, according to jail records. Booking information lists Renteria as being held on a single charge of murder under case number 1906247, with no bond posted as of his most recent booking. Jail records show the bond amount was set at $100,000.

Fort Worth police officers were dispatched around 12:15 a.m. January 30 to a home in the 2800 block of Northwest Loraine Street after receiving a report of a shooting, police said in the press release.

When officers arrived, they found a man with apparent gunshot wounds, according to the department presser. The Fort Worth Fire Department attempted life-saving measures, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Officers also found another man at the residence, identified as Renteria. Investigators identified him as the victim’s roommate and declared him the suspect in the homicide. The press release further stated that the shooting was an isolated incident and that there was no ongoing threat to the public.

The identity of the victim was not initially released, and police did not disclose a motive for the shooting, according to police statements cited by FOX 4.

The Tarrant County medical examiner’s office later identified the victim as Adrian Certuche, 42, according to records from that office reported by other local outlets. Certuche died around 12:28 a.m. from a gunshot wound to the neck, the medical examiner’s office said.

Renteria apparently confessed to the shooting and indicated that he shot the victim after he knocked on the front door in the middle of the night, according to an arrest warrant affidavit reported by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
