The San Antonio City Council voted unanimously against the approval of a municipal utility district (MUD) for Lennar’s planned Guajalote Ranch development.

The San Antonio City Council is set to address a controversial construction project today.

Lennar’s planned Guajalote Ranch development is requesting approval for a municipal utility district (MUD), but the project has faced significant opposition from residents.

Several members of the Scenic Loop-Helotes Creek Alliance are expected to speak against the development, and a strong turnout is anticipated.

Residents’ biggest concern is that the proposed treatment plant would discharge treated wastewater directly into the Helotes Creek watershed, which feeds into the Edwards Aquifer—Bexar County’s and south-central Texas.

The new housing development is expected to include nearly 3,000 homes. City council members will vote on the MUD request, and we will provide updates on the decision.
