The property management company for the apartment complex said the issue started before the snowstorm.
PLANO, Texas — For nearly six years, Marc Cox said his apartment in Plano has been a place of comfort, a spot where the morning sun filters through the trees and routines feel familiar.
But for the past few weeks, one basic necessity has been missing.
Cox lives at the Bellevue Spring Creek Apartments, where he said residents have gone more than two weeks without reliable hot water, a problem that’s turned everyday tasks into daily frustrations.
Turn on the faucet, and the issue becomes obvious.
“Hot water sanitizes … and we don’t have that,” Cox said.
Without it, residents say simple routines like bathing and doing laundry have become difficult especially during colder weather.
A thermometer test showed water temperatures never reached a true hot setting.
“That’s about as hot as it gets right there,” Cox said.
The apartment complex said the problem began just before the recent winter storm.
“It’s annoying,” Cox said. “You know, we can’t live like this.”
A spokesperson for ValCap Group LLC, the property management company, told WFAA that aging boilers are the root of the issue. The company said both boilers are now being fully replaced and that they are working with the City of Plano, with repairs expected to begin this week.
For Cox, that update brings some cautious optimism.
“Being the city got involved with it, and you’re here, I think it’s great,” he said.
Still, he said he’s waiting for the moment when turning on the faucet brings more than just lukewarm water.
