EL PASO, Texas — A 25-year-old woman has been charged with intoxication manslaughter following a fatal collision on I-10 West, according to the El Paso Police Department.

The incident occurred on February 3, 2026, at approximately 10:39 p.m. near mile marker 11, where Britney Torres, of El Paso, Texas, was driving a 2017 Ford Mustang in the wrong direction. Her vehicle collided head-on with a 2009 Honda Civic driven by 25-year-old Jesus Chico Jr., also of El Paso, Texas. Chico Jr. succumbed to his injuries from the crash, while Torres sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital.

The Special Traffic Investigations Unit, along with the DWI Task Force, responded to the scene. Torres was subsequently arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter. She was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility with a bond set at $150,000, as stated by the department.

This incident marks the fifth traffic fatality in El Paso this year, matching the number of fatalities at this time in 2025. The investigation into the collision is ongoing.
