Mere months after its March return from a three-year hiatus, San Antonio’s Bandit BBQ & Burgers is closing again, according to a Monday social media post.

“It is with heavy hearts and deep gratitude that we share the news that Bandit BBQ & Burgers has officially closed its doors,” the restaurant’s Instagram post said. “This is not a message we ever hoped to write, and making this decision has been one of the hardest steps of our journey.”

The post said the owners were unable to grow the business due to a number of unspecified roadblocks.

In addition to its menu of smoked meats and gooey brisket mac n’ cheese, the spot at 2769 Nacogdoches Road also featured libations and live music. Its outdoor dining area also offered a jungle gym for kids to play on.

Special events at the barbecue joint included happy hours, Thursday trivia nights and game days on the big screen.

Bandit, which originally shuttered in 2022, was formed under adversity. Founded in 2020, the business hung on through the pandemic only to close as the world was coming back to life.

In March 2025, the owners revived the business, only to face another adversarial economic environment, including the potential of an oncoming recession. Bandit’s closure comes as a slew of other San Antonio dining establishments have also shut their doors, citing a tough operating environment.
