Though there are a lot of custom license plates the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles denies every year – some of them funny, others crude – it’s always interesting to see the ones that get through.
One vanity plate caught San Antonio’s eyes after TikTok user @mrs.kitty.meow posted it to the social media platform. In the video, a BMW can be seen rolling through an area of the city that’s hard to identify with a license plate reading “EWW 1604.” Immediately, locals in the comments said the plate is “San Antonio, coded” and the car’s owner must be “‘tone to the bone.”
Traffic all over San Antonio, but especially Loop 1604, is a constant sore spot for folks in the Alamo City. One commenter under the video said after moving to the area around Potranco Road and Loop 1604 to be closer to their job, “I spend more time in traffic now than before.”
Others tossed their own ideas for vanity plates in the ring, such as “eww Alamo Ranch,” “DETH*LUP” and other pain points like US 90, SH-51 and IH-35. Others suggested whole sentences like “finish the damn construction.”
Safe to say this license plate joins the all-time greats of strange sightings on San Antonio roads, such as whole mattresses flying overhead, basketball hoops dubiously secured to the trunk, construction materials sticking out like it’s Final Destination and many more.
