A 19-year-old son, protective brother and fun-loving uncle has been identified as the man killed late last month in a Fort Worth shooting police say was over an order of fries.

Jarvis Davis, 19, was pronounced dead early the morning of Jan. 29 at a hospital, according to online records from the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office.

Davis was shot in the head hours before — about 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 28 — at an apartment complex in 9500 block of Jeremiah Drive, police wrote in a news release.

Investigators said Davis and the suspected shooter were arguing over an order of fries Davis didn’t want to share when the dispute escalated to gunfire.

“A disagreement between friends turned into an unimaginable act of violence, and now a family is left trying to cope with a loss that feels impossible to understand,” Sherika Kennedy, Davis’ mother, wrote in a GoFundMe.

Kennedy described Davis as a loving son, protective brother to seven siblings, and fun-loving uncle to three nieces, adding he brought “laughter, energy, and love to those around him.”

“This tragedy has deeply affected the entire family emotionally and mentally as they try to process such a sudden loss,” she wrote.

The shooter, who has not been publicly identified, fled the scene before officers arrived, police said. As of Friday morning, the department had not yet announced an arrest.
