LUBBOCK, Texas — February signifies Black History Month across the United States. As those around Lubbock celebrate and remember this month, there are several black-owned businesses in the city to support.

EverythingLubbock.com has compiled a list of these locations, which can be found below.

Sweet Creations Bakery: Located at 1308 Broadway, this bakery offers several sweet treats, including custom cakes, cupcakes and pies.

Bucket of Love: This local fried chicken spot prides itself on serving the Lubbock community with not only chicken but many other Southern comfort foods. It can be found at 6012 82nd Street, Suite E.

Broadway Fish & More: Another food location, Broadway Fish & More provides exactly what the name says. Their hours and locations vary, with pop-ups happening often. Each week’s schedule can be found on their Facebook here.

Real Deal Photos: Ranging from weddings to family shoots, Real Deal Photos can cover all photography needs. Its non-profit branch Real Deal Cares also hosts many community outreach events. The studio is located at 2131 51st Street, Unit A.

East Lubbock Art House: A Lubbock staple for the past five years, it encourages creative expression from the community through a variety of artistic mediums. There are workshops, exhibitions and other activities all happening at 405 MLK Jr. Boulevard.

Miss Ann’s Classic Diner: This family-owned diner serves up a wealth of classic American foods, like hamburgers, fries and chicken strips. They’re located at 3218 34th Street.

DCLady Candle Creations: Not only is this business black-owned, but it is also Navy Veteran-owned. The owner creates handmade candles and wax melts. Products can be found and orders can be placed at their website here.


Buddy Holly’s lasting legacy in Lubbock, Texas

YaYa’s Cafe: They provides a wide range of dishes, prepared by a local chef. Hours, dishes and locations vary, but the latest information can be found on their Facebook here.

Rocc Solid Fitness: Fitness classes and other wellness services are provided at this local gym located at 1905 Oak Avenue.

Dimba’s: Specializing in chicken, seafood and sides, Dimba’s is a locally-owned restaurant at 5010 Quaker Avenue.

Wiley’s BBQ: A big-time favorite with the Lubbock community, Wiley’s cooks up not only barbeque but other items, like burgers and fries. It recently moved locations to 1924 Avenue A, with hours from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

Doc’s Cafeteria: This restaurants offers several homestyle cooking dishes, ranging from chicken fried steak to barbeque chicken to oxtail. Those looking for Lee’s Cafe can find those dishes here, as well. They can be found at 4919 34th Street.

Big E’s BBQ: Despite the passing of Lubbock legend Big E, his iconic barbeque stand is still up and running, thanks to the efforts of his son. It is located in the heart of the Depot District at 1801 Buddy Holly Avenue.

Vizo’s African Bar & Restaurant: Offering authentic African cuisine to the Lubbock area alongside a full bar, Vizo’s is located at 3131 34th Street.

The Breakfast Gallery: From traditional breakfast foods to brunch, The Breakfast Gallery has it all covered. In addition, they will be holding a Black History Month Brunch on Feb. 22, with tickets available here. They’re set up at 2510 MLK Jr. Boulevard.

FlySo: For fashion inspired by the Lubbock area, check out FlySo. They have everything from hats to kid’s clothing available here.

Powell’s Country BBQ: Another barbeque spot in the Hub City. It offers all the must-haves for good barbeque at its location at 7729 19th Street.

Shotzy’s Bar and Grill: Located at 3300 82nd Street, Suite C, they have a varied menu alongside a full bar. They also host multiple special events, which can be found on their Facebook page here.

Rhythm & Brews Cafe: Set up in Downtown Lubbock, this place has everything from soul food to barbecue to tacos. In addition to food, it has a full drink menu and lots of live events. It is located at 2512 Texas Avenue.

Rats to Rods Hail & Collision: Located at 9103 Avenue P, Unit B, Rats to Rods is a premiere vehicle repair facility. They specialize in hail, collision and classic car restoration.
