MADISON, Wis. — A Madison teacher sent sexually explicit messages to a Texas teen multiple times over the course of several months, a criminal complaint alleges.
David Fawcett, 58, is charged with sexual exploitation of a child and three counts of possession of child pornography. Fawcett is a teacher at Nuestro Mundo Community School and was put on administrative leave after his arrest earlier this week.
A criminal complaint, filed Friday, alleges Fawcett began messaging a 15-year-old girl from Texas in June 2025 using the social media app Snapchat. Messages detailed in the complaint appear to show him requesting nude images of the teen and sending her nude images of himself.
Fawcett and the teen allegedly shared messages throughout July 2025 and into August 2025. The last message detailed in the complaint was allegedly sent on Aug. 27, 2025.
According to the complaint, investigators with the Melissa, Texas Police Department were notified of the alleged Snapchat messages through a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Investigators were able to match Fawcett to his Snapchat account using his IP address.
During an initial appearance Friday, Fawcett was given a signature bond. As a condition of his bond, he cannot access social media and cannot have any contact, direct or indirect, with any minor without adult supervision.
