EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A Socorro Independent School District (SISD) teacher is dead following a two-vehicle crash on Thursday evening, Feb. 5, in far East El Paso.
SISD confirmed to KTSM that the victim, identified as Virginia Striplin, was a teacher at O’Shea Keleher Whole Child Academy. She was taken to the hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
At around 8:36 p.m. on Thursday, deputies responded to a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Eastlake Boulevard and Blingwood Street. Upon arrival, deputies located a two-vehicle crash involving serious injuries and requested assistance from the EPCSO’s Special Traffic Investigators (STI), which assumed the investigation.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a silver Audi was traveling westbound on Eastlake Boulevard when a blue Nissan SUV traveling eastbound attempted to make a left turn onto Blingwood Street. The SUV failed to yield the right of way, resulting in the crash between the vehicles, according to EPCSO.
The investigation is ongoing.
