USATF announced Lone Star Grand Prix to be hosted on Texas A&M’s campus

  • February 7, 2026

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – USA Track and Field (USATF) announced a partnership with Texas A&M University and the City of College Station today to host a World Athletics Continental Tour Gold-labeled meet.

The USATF Lone Star Grand Prix will be held at Texas A&M’s E.B. Cushing Stadium on June 6th, and broadcast nationally on NBC from 4-6 p.m. Eastern Time.

The Lone Star Grand Prix will award more than $200,000 in prize money to athletes competing in track events ranging from the 100m to the 800m. The event will also have field events, including pole vault, javelin, hammer throw and high jump.

Max Siegel, CEO of USATF, said Cushing Stadium offers some of the country’s finest track-and-field facilities and will allow fans to see some of the best athletes.

“Cushing Stadium is one of the finest track and field facilities in the United States,” Siegel said. “The Lone Star Grand Prix will offer U.S. athletes the opportunity to compete domestically against top talent in a world-class setting. It also provides fans with the opportunity to witness America’s best track and field athletes up close.”

The Lone Star Grand Prix will be the first of two gold-level meets on the inaugural USATF Tour. The second will be the Los Angeles Grand Prix, held at the University of Southern California campus at the Allyson Felix Track on June 13-14.

Pat Henry, Texas A&M track and field head coach, said how much it means to get to host a prestigious event like this one.

“I think it’s an honor that Texas A&M has been selected to host this prestigious meet,” Henry said. “It’s an amazing opportunity for our institution to be a part of the history of track & field in the United States and continue to grow the sport. This meet will provide a lot of American athletes a great chance to showcase their skills on home soil and bring the sport we love to local fans.”

City of College Station Mayor John Nichols said the city is excited and proud to host a national event like this in partnership with USATF.

“This is a big moment for College Station,” Nichols said. “We’re honored that USA Track & Field selected our city as one of just three host locations for this event. Being chosen highlights the excellence of Texas A&M’s track and field program, and the City is proud to play a role in supporting an event that brings elite athletes, visitors and national visibility to our community.”

Tickets for the Lone Star Grand Prix will be available soon. For more information on the USATF Tour, visit usatf.org.
