Lady Owls bring home medals from Calallen meet

The Odem Lady Owls posted several podium finishes Saturday at the Corpus Christi Calallen Unequipped Powerlifting Meet.

Odem’s top finisher was Yariellys Rivera Fontanez, who placed second in the 165-pound weight class. Rivera Fontanez totaled 640 pounds with lifts of 250 in the squat, 110 on the bench press and 280 in the deadlift.

Audrina Marcelino followed with a second-place finish in the 97-pound division, totaling 420 pounds on lifts of 165 in the squat, 70 on the bench and 185 in the deadlift.

At 123 pounds, Zoey Torres earned a third-place finish with a 535-pound total after lifting 215 in the squat, 85 on the bench and 235 in the deadlift.

Also placing third was Joslyn Laurel in the 105-pound class with a 400-pound total.

In the super heavyweight division, Ansley Brasfield recorded a third-place finish, totaling 630 pounds with lifts of 220 in the squat, 140 on the bench and 270 in the deadlift.

Lilah Morin placed fourth in the 114-pound class with a 420-pound total.

At 181 pounds, Emma Dominguez finished fourth, totaling 540 pounds.

In the 148-pound division, Presley Simmons placed sixth with a 505-pound total, followed closely by Michelle Rogers, who finished seventh at 500 pounds.

Juliet Mathis placed seventh in the 132-pound class with a total of 410 pounds.

In the 165-pound division, Summer Brittain finished seventh with 595 pounds, while Jade Richardson placed eighth at 545 pounds.

Odem finished fifth in the girls team standings with 23 points, trailing Alice, Corpus Christi Calallen, Kingsville King and Santa Gertrudis Academy.
