Ingleside's Garcia wins 132-pound division at Calallen meet

The Ingleside Mustangs delivered multiple podium finishes Saturday at the Corpus Christi Calallen Unequipped Powerlifting Meet.

The Mustangs placed second in the team standings.

Ingleside’s Ian Garcia captured first place in the 132-pound weight class. He totaled 745 pounds, lifting 255 in the squat, 135 on the bench press and 355 in the deadlift.

Also at 132 pounds, Zaedyn Rodriguez placed second with a 640-pound total, recording lifts of 250 in the squat, 125 on the bench and 265 in the deadlift.

At 148 pounds, Israel Ramirez earned a third-place finish with a 1,065-pound total after posting a 405-pound squat, a 255-pound bench press and a 405-pound deadlift. Carson Lopez followed with a sixth-place finish in the same 148-pound division, totaling 920 pounds behind lifts of 365, 205 and 350.

In the 220-pound weight class, Dominic Moreno placed second with a total of 985 pounds, highlighted by a 425-pound deadlift.

At 275 pounds, David Gonzales finished second with a 925-pound total, while Lucas Stillman placed third at 915 pounds.

Ingleside finished second in the boys team standings with 28 points, trailing only Corpus Christi Calallen.

The Lady Mustangs competed at the Beeville Trojan Invitational on Saturday.

The Lady Mustangs’ top finisher was Kaylee Murua, who placed fourth in the 132-pound weight class. Murua totaled 800 pounds after lifting 300 in the squat, 165 on the bench press and a meet-best 335-pound deadlift.

Also earning a fourth-place finish was Grace Matern, who competed in the 242-pound division. Matern recorded a total of 725 pounds with lifts of 270 in the squat, 185 on the bench and 270 in the deadlift.

In the 148-pound class, Sophia Robertson finished fifth with a 755-pound total, posting lifts of 275, 175 and 305.

At 220 pounds, Laigen Hillis also placed fifth, totaling 830 pounds behind lifts of 315 in the squat, 205 on the bench and 310 in the deadlift.

Gabriella Castillo placed sixth in the 105-pound division with a total of 445 pounds, while Emerie Chandler finished sixth in the 165-pound class at 630 pounds.
