Fort Worth police are investigating a shooting that allegedly stemmed from a “domestic altercation,” police said.

FORT WORTH, Texas — A woman was found shot and killed during a “domestic altercation” in Fort Worth Tuesday, police said. 

Officers responded to a shooting call around 9:07 p.m. Tuesday to an apartment located at 3720 Post Oak Blvd. in Fort Worth, according to a press release from the Fort Worth Police Department. 

Police found a woman inside the residence who was shot in the head, the release states. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene, police said. Detectives found that the victim was shot during a “domestic altercation,” officials said. 

The suspect left the scene shortly after shooting the victim, police said. The suspect was arrested in Irving after contacting police and telling officers that he shot the victim, the release states. 

Officials did not release any additional information about the victim or suspect. The incident is under investigation, police said.Â
