Everything is bigger and better in Texas, y’all – at least according to a new Booking.com report naming Fredericksburg as the best city in the United States for traveller hospitality in 2026.
The growing Hill Country town, located about an hour northwest of San Antonio, is known as a travel destination for its wineries, shopping, food and a historic German cultural heritage. It’s also the center of a massive tourism boom, with new hotels -like the state’s first Waldorf Astoria – and lifestyle developments in the works.
The report notes that travellers are increasingly interested in “authentic experiences,” and “distinctive, character-rich stays that offer an authentic sense of place.”
The international travel site analyzed 370 million verified traveler reviews worldwide for its 14th annual Traveler Review Awards, according to a news release. Fredericksburg is the only Texas town included in the list. Palm Desert, California; Cape May, New Jersey; Waikoloa, Hawaii; Snowmass Village, Colorado; and Oakhurst, California, also scored a nod.
“Recognition for places like Fredericksburg, Palm Desert, and Cape May reflects the care and consistency our partners bring to every stay. We’re proud to celebrate them through the Traveler Review Awards and stay committed to making it easier for everyone to experience the world,” said Ben Harrell, Managing Director of the site’s U.S. office.
Fredericksburg didn’t just win big at home; it’s also the only U.S. city included in the 2026 Traveler Review Awards list of places with the best hospitality on Earth. The city came in fifth place, behind Montepulciano, Italy; Magong, Taiwan; San Martín de los Andes, Argentina; and Harrogate, in the United Kingdom.
