No. 9 Nebraska (3-1) entered day two of the UTSA Invitational on Saturday, taking on No. 1 Texas (2-1) once again and UTSA (0-2). The Husker swept the day, knocking off the Longhorns 8-5 and earning a 6-3 victory over the Roadrunners.

Nebraska started the day with its second-straight clash with the defending national champions, this time grabbing the win, its fourth victory over the No. 1 team in program history and first since April 8, 2016, when it downed then-No. 1 Michigan, 1-0.

The Huskers jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning, backed by an Ava Kuszak three-run home run. Emmerson Cope blasted her own three-run home run in the third, extending Nebraska’s lead to 8-2. Lauren Camenzind hit a solo home run in the third as well. Though Texas scored three runs in the bottom of the third, the Huskers shut it down for the remainder of the game.

Jordy Frahm (1-1) led Nebraska in the shutdown, closing out the final fourth innings to get the win in the circle against the No. 1 team. She struck out five Longhorns and allowed only three hits and no runs. She also hit a solo home run in the first. Alexis Jensen started in the circle, throwing six strikeouts and allowing eight hits and five earned runs across the first three innings.

The Huskers also held a big lead against UTSA, entering the bottom of the sixth up 6-1. But the Roadrunners cut the lead to three, attempting a comeback. Then, following a leadoff single in the bottom of the seventh, Nebraska retired three straight batters to escape with the win.
