AUSTIN, Texas — Two people are in the hospital after a crash involving multiple vehicles in southeast Austin early Wednesday morning.

Austin-Travis County EMS reported that medics and firefighters were carrying out a vehicle rescue near East William Cannon and Branchwood Drives, with APD saying the call came in around 6:15 a.m. Wednesday morning.

APD said that one person was pinned inside of their vehicle and that the patient was “awake and breathing.”

The pinned person was successfully extricated from their vehicle; police say that two people were taken to a hospital in south Austin with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say that the westbound lanes of William Cannon Drive in the area of the crash will be closed while responders work to clear the scene. APD says that the closures will not be long-lasting.
