Texas softball fans will be busy before the Super Bowl kicks off.

The Longhorns had two games Sunday, starting with No. 25 Washington and ending with UTSA. They beat Washington 5-0 to start the day and run-ruled the Roadrunners, 10-0. On Friday, Texas took down Nebraska at the UTSA Invitational before splitting matchups with Nebraska and Washington the next day.

UTSA lost to Washington and Nebraska in its first two games. Washington beat Nebraska early Sunday after losing to Texas and beating UTSA on Saturday. The Huskies dropped their opener Friday to Nebraska.

Texas beats UTSA, 10-0

Bottom 5: UTSA shut out by Texas

Wells finished the Roadrunners with two strikeouts and a groundout in the final frame. UTSA did draw a walk and double, but Wells finished with three hits allowed, three walks allowed and four strikeouts in a complete-game shutout.

Top 5: Texas extends its lead

The Longhorns pushed across four to put this one in danger of a run rule. Pinch-hitter Caigan Crabtree homered to center field before another bench bat, Victoria Hunter, singled. Two outs later, Atwood homered to left field. Stewart finished the scoring with her second long ball in as many games, putting Texas up 10-0.

Bottom 4: Runner stranded in scoring position

Mundine made it to second base after reaching on a fielder’s choice. Madrid walked to give UTSA its biggest threat with just one out in the inning. But Wells forced a foul out and strike out to preserve the 6-0 advantage.

Top 4: Longhorns strike again

Henry singled and stole second then advanced to third base on an Anderson single. She scored as Anderson was thrown out trying to steal second. Atwood walked and Stewart singled. A Sneed line drive brought home Atwood before UTSA retired the side.

Bottom 3: Roadrunners stay off scoreboard

Hornback hit a one-out single but a fielder’s choice and groundball kept UTSA scoreless.

Top 3: Texas holds 4-0 advantage

Lawson and Sneed were retired before Bennett reached on an error by Wick. Nichols also reached on an error, but Maloney flied out to left field for the final out.

Bottom 2: Wells sets down the Roadrunners

A lineout, strikeout and groundout put the bats back in the Longhorns’ hands.

Top 2: Texas extends lead

Alisa Sneed hit a lead-off double followed by a lineout and a single by Nichols. Maloney’s shallow double brought Sneed in, causing UTSA to go to its bullpen. Meredith Schmitt then walked Henry. Wick couldn’t throw out Martinez on a grounder and the error allowed both Mahoney and Nichols to score. A popout and fielder’s choice ended the half-inning.

Bottom 1: Longhorns hold 1-0 lead

Texas pitcher Hannah Wells gave up a single to Taryn Madlock, but held the Roadrunners scoreless.

Top 1: Texas jumps ahead

Henry reached first with one out and stole second base.Martinez grounded out, moving Henry to third. After an Atwood walk, Henry scored on a wild pitch to Katie Stewart. But UTSA escaped the inning.

No. 1 Texas beats No. 25 Washington, 5-0

Bottom 6: Washington still scoreless

After a lead-off walk for DeBoer and a strikeout, an Alvarez bunt put a runner in scoring position. But Bubke grounded out to end the inning and the game.

Top 6: Texas leads, 5-0

Nichols hit a lead-off single and stole second. But the next three Longhorns were sat down in order.

Bottom 5: Double goes for naught

Kavan retired the first two Huskies before a double by Teasley. But Carroll’s line drive was caught to end send both teams to their final six outs.

Top 5: Washington keeps deficit at 5

Allie Thomsen entered the game for Washington and immediately walked Atwood. But Texas couldn’t make her pay, with a couple of groundballs and a flyout ending the potential threat.

Bottom 4: Kavan throws another clean inning

Washington had two players reach, but one was erased on a double play during a flyout to center. Bubke singled, but Kavan induced a groundout to end the fourth.

Top 4: Texas still leads, 5-0

After a walk and two strikeouts, Martinez flew out

Bottom 3: Washington wastes lead-off walk

Toney earned a base on balls, but two flyouts and a strikeout retired the Huskies.

Top 3: Longhorns increase lead

Maloney started the inning with a single. Henry followed with a single then stole second. A third straight hit from Martinez scored Mahoney. After a pitching change to Rylee Rehbein and an Atwood strikeout, Stewart went yard to left field. Texas led 5-0 heading into the bottom half of the inning.

Bottom 2: Kavan holds down Huskies

Texas’ ace delivered a 1-2-3 inning, featuring a strikeout.

Top 2: Texas takes 2-0 lead

The Longhorns strike first against Rodriguez. Atwood scored on a Lawson single after reaching base via hit by pitch. Goode, who walked after Atwood, later scored on a wild pitch. Ryan Maddox ended the inning in the circle. 

Bottom 1: Scoreless after opening inning

Glab reached with two outs, but was left on base.

The Longhorns went down 1-2-3. The Huskies will come to bat against Kavan.
