When walking around Austin, whether it’s in downtown, South Congress, or a neighborhood area, there’s always a unique store or place to explore. From typical store and restaurant outlets to shops tucked away in a neighborhood, Austin is full of both well-known and lesser-known places to discover. It can be a plus when going somewhere, having the ability to tangibly document the moment, walk away with a keepsake, and maybe even having something cute to post on Instagram. Offering a sense of nostalgia and the ability to capture more candid emotions, photo booths have become a quick way to capture a moment that lasts a lifetime. Here are a few of the many things Austin has to offer, that are inside some places you might not expect!

South Congress Hotel Photomatica Photo Booth

The South Congress Hotel sits in the heart of what many call ‘SOCO’, the popular South Congress Avenue. It’s one long strip of places like LuluLemon and Loveshackfancy, to restaurants like Two Hands and Magnolia Cafe, making it an efficient way to shop and eat with a diverse range of price points. Around the halfway point of the avenue is the South Congress Hotel, which holds a photomatica photobooth inside, near the hotel bar and lobby.

The photo booth is digital, allowing the photos to be printed within seconds, and charges $6 for two photo strips. You have the chance to take 3 different photos, choose between printing in color or monochrome, and all strips come with a border that says “South Congress Hotel”. It’s an easy and affordable way to walk away with a keepsake from a visit to South Congress.

Afterwards, you can sit in the outdoor pavilion of the Hotel or pop by next door to Cafe No Se, serving coffee and brunch-related foods. The hotel also features several other restaurants and Austin born coffee shops like Manana Coffee, Maie Day steakhouse, or Otoko, a Japanese omakase restaurant. The photo booth is available to hotel guests or passing visitors 24/7, making it an activity to do at any time of day.

Roommate Collective Vintage Analog Photo Booth

Moving a bit East, turning right off Springdale Road, sits the only vintage analog photo booth in Texas, inside the gift and goods shop Roommate Collective. The business was started between two locally owned businesses, Jollie Ollie Designs and Have a Nice Day. The storefront features cute stationary items, cards, stickers, hair accessories, and much more! They opened in the summer of 2025, and this past October, added a photobooth that sits right at the front of the store.

The photos are developed in real time, cost $7 for one strip, and take around 3 minutes to print. Instead of using ink to be digitally printed, they are printed with other chemicals used for film photos, making the initial print feel a bit oily, but they become dry after a few minutes. There can be a bit of a wait for the photobooth; however, the store offers an array of adorable goods and gifts to discover, making it the perfect place to visit with friends!

Afterwards, stop by a local coffee shop, Medici, for a drink or the food hall, all located within the same parking lot. You can visit the photo booth or store Wednesday through Monday, from 11am to 6pm.

Tweedy’s Patio & Bar Photomatica Photo Booth

Lastly, near the UT Austin campus, in the North University neighborhood, is the coffee shop and bar, Tweedy’s. It fills the inside of white house, welcoming you in with cozy yet rock n roll vibes. On the outdoor patio of the business, a photobooth sits surrounded by picnic tables and patio seating, making it a perfect place to bring your furry friends. You can get two strips of film for $7 and print in color or monochrome.

Afterwards, stop inside to order a coffee or drink, and play one of the classic board games available or attend one of the many community events like disco night, trivia, bike night, and even photography exhibitions. You can also grab a bite to eat at the food trucks finding something suitable for anyone, with many of the places having both gluten free and vegan options. Some of the options include L’il Nonnas Vegan Pizzeria, El Borrachos Tacos, and Zucchini Kill Bakery, located behind Tweedy’s.

You can even stop by before or after seeing a show at the 29th Street bathroom located next door. Whether you’re coming to study, get a drink, dinner, or just walking in the neighborhood, the outdoor photo booth is open to everyone from the hours of 12pm to 2am.
