EL PASO, TEXAS (KFOX14/CBS4) — Flagstone Foods has announced a strategic shift that will see its El Paso facility downsized in 2026, which is expected to affect over 200 employees.

The facility’s downsizing comes as Flagstone Food becomes the new epicenter for the production of its Emerald Nuts brand, reflecting the company’s growing demand in the snack nut market.

As a result, private label production will be moved to Flagstone’s operations in Robersonville, North Carolina, and Dothan, Alabama, to optimize production and reliability for private label customers.

This transition will lead to a workforce reduction affecting 225 employees in El Paso by the end of 2025.

“We recognize that this decision impacts the lives of many of our team members and their families,” Larry Appel, CEO of Flagstone Foods, said. “Our colleagues have performed well, and this is no reflection on their work but simply a necessary transition in our operations to best serve our customers. While we had initially anticipated seeing workforce growth in El Paso, consumer preferences drive our production priorities as they do any company, and we must evolve in this direction to best serve our customers.”

Appel emphasized the company’s commitment to supporting affected employees through severance packages and job search assistance, ensuring a smooth transition to their next career path.
