Foggy and warm with some rain in Houston this week

  • February 9, 2026

Monday morning’s Forecast:

Morning drives this week are about to get a little trickier in Houston, as dense fog is expected to blanket the city throughout the week. This is going to be a staple of our weather throughout the entire week. The fog is forecast to typically linger through 8 a.m. and at times sticking around toward 10 a.m. It’s the kind of thick morning fog that brings visibility down to less than a quarter mile in some spots, making extra caution on the roads a must.

If you’re looking forward to some spring-like weather, this is your week. Daytime temperatures are forecast to reach the upper-70s to 80 degrees making it incredibly warm for this time of year. Even though each day starts off cool, mostly in the 60s, the numbers jump quickly in the afternoon. This run of warm air is thanks to southerly winds bringing humidity straight up from the Gulf, so it’ll feel quite a bit more humid through the week as well.

The first chance for showers could arrive late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. The bulk of the rain is expected to fall Wednesday morning in Houston, with northern areas seeing some wet weather as early as Tuesday evening. However, this round of rain doesn’t look like it’s anything more than just a light rain. Projected rainfall totals are low, mostly under a quarter inch, and as little as a trace for some coastal locations.

Looking ahead, a second system moves into the area on Saturday, with the potential to bring stronger thunderstorms. While it’s too early for details, this one looks stronger. You’ll also notice there is no cold weather in this 10-day forecast. The Presidents Day holiday is dry and mild.
