The El Paso Community Foundation will launch Sol Summit, a two-day music and cultural festival, on Saturday and Sunday, May 2-3, at San Jacinto Plaza in downtown El Paso.
Eric Pearson, president of El Paso Community Foundation, said Sol Summit celebrates downtown and showcases Latino voices and local bands alongside top rock groups.
Festival Director Seth Dodson said the indie, bilingual event spotlights both local and global acts. The event is locally grown and designed to transition seamlessly between genres, languages and scenes, according to Dodson.
The festival will be headlined by Bomba Estéreo on Saturday and The Flaming Lips on Sunday. The Flaming Lips, formed in Oklahoma City, bring decades-spanning American psychedelic and alternative rock. Bomba Estéreo, led by Li Saumet, blends Caribbean rhythms with electronic music.
Sol Summit will be family-friendly, with daytime programming curated with the El Paso Museum of History and Mexican American Cultural Center. Gates open at 2:30 p.m. each day.
Tickets go on sale at noon Friday, February 6, at SolSummitMusic.com. Two-day general admission passes start at $135, single-day passes at $70. Kids 12 and under receive free admission with a ticketed adult.
