John was born on November 1, 1943, in Slaton, Texas, to Pete and Minnie Respondek. He married the love of his life, Chantal, on September 10, 1966, at Saint Elizabeth’s Catholic Church in Lubbock, Texas.
After graduating from high school, John devoted more than 30 years to farming alongside his wife, Chantal, as well as his father, mother, and sister. Through his life’s work, and in partnership with his wife, he instilled in his children—and later his grandchildren—a strong work ethic, a deep commitment to God and family, and an understanding of good character demonstrated through helping others.
In addition to his daily work outdoors, John cherished time spent with family and friends. He especially enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, and relaxing evenings of fellowship after long days of hard work.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Chantal; his sisters, Diane and Eugenia; and his parents.
John is survived by his daughters, Brenna Peralez and her husband, Joe, of Idalou, and Marcelle Respondek of Idalou; his sons, Bart Respondek and his wife, Chaney, of Coppell, and Brent Respondek of Lubbock; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
