AUSTIN, Texas — Police are searching for a man accused of stabbing a person three times on a CapMetro bus in northeast Austin in January.
According to the arrest affidavit, the incident occurred on Saturday, January 24, around 4 p.m. on bus #2706 near 7900 Cameron Rd. Video footage shows Sergio Diaz, 45, allegedly standing up from the middle of the bus and walking to the back, where he reportedly attacked the victim with a knife.

According to CapMetro police, the victim sustained two stab wounds to the upper left back and one to the upper left chest.
After receiving treatment at a hospital, the victim expressed his intention to pursue charges. CapMetro Police identified Diaz as the suspect after reviewing the footage and comparing it to Diaz’s Texas ID photo.
The charge against Diaz is aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and police obtained a warrant for his arrest on February 6th by a Travis County judge.
