During the closure, traffic will be diverted onto the service road, and that service road will be reduced to one lane.

GRAYSON COUNTY, Texas — Drivers will see all lanes closed on US-75 (northbound and southbound) between Travis Street and Loy Lake Road on an overnight schedule from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., continuing through Thursday, Feb. 12.

The big issue isn’t just the shutdown, it’s what happens next.

During the closure, traffic will be diverted onto the service road, and that service road will be reduced to one lane. That’s where delays can stack up quickly, especially if you’re trying to move through the area during the evening drive, late-night hospital shifts or early-morning commutes.

This closure schedule lines up with ongoing work tied to the US-75 / US-82 interchange improvements in Sherman, including bridge work and demolition activity in that corridor.

There’s also a separate overnight issue in Denison: Southbound US-75 between Loy Lake Road and Iron Ore Creek will have the left lane closed overnight Tuesday, February 10, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

What to expect (and why this can feel worse than it actually sounds)

Full main lane shutdowns force everyone onto frontage roads/service roads. When that frontage road is down to one lane, even moderate traffic can bottleneck. You may see slower speeds, merging backups and short-notice lane shifts near the work zone.

TxDOT has said detour/traffic control will be posted for drivers in the area, but your best “real life” move is to plan for extra time if you’re traveling during those nighttime windows. Smart planning tips if you have to travel during the closures If you’re headed through Sherman overnight (or leaving early in the morning):

Consider using Texoma Parkway (SH 91) or Preston Road (SH 289) depending on where you’re starting and ending. If you’re staying local, expect the service road to be the pinch point — and treat it like a construction merge zone, not a normal frontage flow.
