A former Big Lots store in West El Paso will take new life as a fitness center.
The store at 7025 North Mesa St. will be converted into a Chuze Fitness. A check on the Chuze Fitness website, shows that a new fitness gym is coming to that location. There are three Chuze Fitness locations in El Paso: 981 N. Resler Drive, 1430 N. Lee Trevino Drive, and 10060 Rushing Road.
In 2022, in an El Paso Times interview, Cory Brightwell, Chuze co-founder and chief executive officer, said that El Paso was on its “radar as a market we wanted to be in.” At that time, Chuze owners were acquiring EP Fitness clubs.
Chuze, a California-based company, has more than 30 locations in California, Arizona, Colorado and New Mexico. In 2022, it had 330,000 members and $95 million in sales, according to officials.
A media representative for Chuze Fitness said there is development and planning for additional locations, including in Lakewood, Colorado, scheduled for mid to late 2025, but didn’t provide any details on a new El Paso location.
