COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) -The El Paso County Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is asking residents to plan ahead as the department plans a new system rollout.
The DMV said all branches will close from noon Friday, February 13, through Wednesday, February 18. During this time, they said kiosk and online transactions will also be unavailable.
The DMV is planning a state-wide digital upgrade. They said the new technology will modernize the way the state and residents can keep track of their driver’s licenses and vehicles up for renewal.
According to the DMV, the experience will be more streamlined and user-friendly with secure, logged-in customer portals. They said this would allow residents to enroll in online notifications, such as renewal notifications and updates for important deadlines.
“This Upgrade will not only modernize our back end system with better security and functionality for staff and county staff, it will be a win for our customers giving them a better customer experience with our online services and an opportunity to have their own logged-in account to track both their driver and vehicle accounts,” Colorado DMV Senior Director Electra Bustle said. “We are incredibly excited for our residents to experience the more modern, secure, and user-friendly system coming in February.”
The DMV asks residents to complete driver and vehicle transactions early, and to handle outstanding tasks such as renewing registrations and driver licenses now at their website.
