Free agency is still a month away, but expect buzz to build over the next several days concerning a veteran safety with intriguing Cowboys connections. Nasir Adderley, a former second-round draft pick who spent four years with the Chargers and then retired after the 2022 season has announced his intent to return to the NFL. And the Cowboys, who are coincidentally thin in the secondary, just happen to have his onetime position coach in the newly-hired Derrick Ansley. Oh, and Nasir’s cousin Herb Adderley was also a Cowboy for three seasons in the 1970s and won a Super Bowl wearing the star.
The day’s headlines shone a spotlight on this year’s champs, with longtime Cowboys defender DeMarcus Lawrence finally hoisting the Lombardi Trophy… and doubling down on his earlier comments about the Cowboys’ chances of late.
