Bringing sounds from the Emerald Isle, the popular trio will make its first appearance in Plano at Love & War in Texas.
Bringing sounds from the Emerald Isle to our corner of the Metroplex, Socks in the Frying Pan will appear this Sunday, February 15, at Love & War in Texas. Formed in the Irish music hub of County Clare, the band’s combination of traditional music and harmonies with a touch of humor has earned accolades including “Live Band of the Year” at the Celtic Music Awards.
The trio includes Calum Bell on fiddle, David McKindley-Ward on guitar, and Shane Hayes on accordion. While this will be their first visit to Plano, the Socks have toured extensively across the U.S. and around the world. Sunday’s show is part of the band’s latest coast-to-coast tour with visits to 17 states planned through the St. Patrick’s Day season.
“I’ve always had a special love of Texas,” says Hayes, noting the band’s two prior appearances at the North Texas Irish Festival. “We’ve had amazing crowds, made some great friends, and experienced fantastic support, so we jump at any chance to get back.”
The Socks tease “infectious, feel good, toe-tapping music” in advance of Sunday’s performance, with dancing encouraged from the crowd. The show kicks off at 4 p.m. Sunday at Love & War in Texas (601 East Plano Parkway, Plano) with advance tickets ($25) available online.
