PHOTOS: Firefighters battled a fire at a vacant commercial building in South Austin overnight, officials said. The Austin Fire Department first posted about the incident on X around 3:33 a.m. Monday. Officials said crews responded to 510 W. Oltorf St. and found heavy fire venting through the roof of the structure.

Firefighters attacked the blaze defensively due to the building’s condition. The main body of fire was knocked down within hours, and crews worked to extinguish smaller spot fires throughout the building.

Officials declared the fire under control after crews searched for hot spots and began releasing units from the scene. The building was unoccupied, and no injuries were reported, fire officials said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The Austin Firefighters Association thanked the community for avoiding the area and allowing crews space to work safely.
