HOUSTON
– Houston police are investigating after an armed robbery turned deadly at an illegal gaming room in southwest Houston.
According to investigators, a security guard was shot and killed during a robbery just after 9:20 p.m. Monday near the intersection of Bissonnet Street and Beechnut Street.
Officers responding to the scene discovered the business was operating as an illegal game room. Police say multiple people were inside at the time of the shooting, but they believe several witnesses fled before officers arrived.
Investigators say surveillance cameras were operating inside the business, and detectives are now reviewing video footage in hopes of identifying the suspect or suspects involved.
At this time, police do not have a suspect description and are still working to determine how many people may have been involved in the robbery.
Houston police are urging anyone who was inside the game room or who may have seen suspects leaving the area to contact investigators or Crime Stoppers.
