CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — After more than four years of closure, Bob Hall Pier is set to reopen to the public on Tuesday, Feb. 24, at 11 a.m. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, according to Nueces County Commissioner Brent Chesney.

The newly rebuilt Padre Island landmark will be open to the public for free for the first 90 days, giving visitors, anglers, and families a chance to experience the pier at no cost.

County leaders say additional details about the reopening celebration will be announced soon.

Bob Hall Pier has been closed since Hurricane Hanna damaged the structure in July 2020, halting activity at what many consider a key attraction and economic driver for the Coastal Bend.

Construction delays, including weather and work stoppages, pushed the reopening beyond earlier projected timelines.

The reopening comes as county officials work to restore one of the region’s most recognizable coastal destinations just in time for the busy spring season.
