Plano ISD is honored to announce that the district and six schools have been recognized by the Educational Results Partnership (ERP) in the 2025 Texas Honor Roll. In its 11th year, the Honor Roll honors top-performing schools in the state for outperforming their peers in closing achievement gaps and improving student outcomes.

Schools and districts  were split into two categories:

Star Schools and Districts: Populations with greater than, or equal to, 33% of students designated as economically disadvantaged (high poverty)
Scholar Schools and Districts: Populations with fewer than 33% of students designated as economically disadvantaged (low poverty)

Plano ISD was honored as a Star District. Additionally, these schools earned the following recognitions:

Beverly Elementary School – Scholar
Hightower Elementary School – Scholar
Hughston Elementary School – Scholar
Schell Elementary School – Star
Wyatt Elementary School – Scholar
Schimelpfenig Middle School – Scholar

Only 1,076 schools in Texas made the list, making up approximately 15% of eligible schools.  And only 86  school districts made the list, totaling 14.5% of eligible districts.

Honor Roll schools and districts represent those that were comprehensively higher performing on the STAAR Reading, Language Arts and Math Assessments for all cohorts of student populations served and are improving outcomes for historically underserved student populations. To make the Honor Roll, a school or district must have comprehensively performed above the mean (trendline) at least 80 percent of the time for all cohorts of students served and for all grade levels served. Data made publicly available by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) for STAAR was used to conduct the analysis.

“Our Honor Roll designation exemplifies what it means to be Plano ISD Proud, as they continue to demonstrate excellence in student learning and growth,” said Plano ISD Superintendent Dr. Theresa Williams. “We’re committed to educating, inspiring and empowering every student to activate their unique potential so they are future-ready leaders in a dynamic world.”

Honor Roll schools are recognized for consistently high levels of student achievement, improvements in academic performance over time, and reductions in achievement gaps among historically disadvantaged students. The program is part of a national effort to engage business leaders in promoting best practices that improve student outcomes. The organization is presented by the Campaign for Business and Education Excellence in partnership with the Texas Business Leaders Council, making it the only school recognition program in the state that is supported by both education and business leaders.
