After the abrupt closure of both Alamo Drafthouse locations in El Paso, along with theaters in Houston, Katy, and Lubbock, Flix Brewhouse has officially confirmed it has acquired those locations and plans to reopen them later this month.
In a press release issued today, Flix Brewhouse announced it has purchased four dine-in cinema locations in Texas that were previously operated by Triple Tap Ventures, a former Alamo Drafthouse franchisee. The locations include West El Paso (Montecillo Blvd.), East El Paso (Joe Battle Blvd. and Pellicano), Katy (LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch), and Lubbock (Loop 289 Northwest).
With this acquisition, Flix Brewhouse is expanding from 11 to 15 locations nationwide, now operating 129 screens across six states. El Paso will become the first city in the country to host three Flix Brewhouse locations, marking a significant expansion for the brand in Texas.
Flix Brewhouse CEO Chance Robertson said the move aligns with the company’s focus on experience-driven moviegoing and community-centered theaters. He also acknowledged the work previously done by Triple Tap Ventures in building moviegoing audiences at these locations.
Following a short rebranding period, the newly acquired Flix Brewhouse theaters are scheduled to open on February 23.
Flix Brewhouse bills itself as the world’s only first-run cinema brewery. Guests can expect full dine-in service with seat-side hospitality, a full kitchen, mobile ordering and payment, and in-house brewed craft beer. The company’s beer program has received national recognition from the Great American Beer Festival, World Beer Cup, and Best of Craft Beer Awards.
Triple Tap Ventures CEO Neil Billingsley-Michaelsen said the transition came as the company chose to focus on other hospitality concepts, emphasizing that finding a dine-in cinema partner with shared values around innovation, programming, and guest experience was a priority.
Flix Brewhouse was founded in Round Rock, Texas in 2011 and now operates 15 locations across six states. Triple Tap Ventures is headquartered in Houston and specializes in premium entertainment and dining brands.
