El Paso airport increases long-term parking fees

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The El Paso International Airport (ELP) will implement a parking rate adjustment for long-term parking beginning March 1, according to the City of El Paso in a news release.

The daily rate will increase from $7 to $9 per day. The El Paso City Council approved this adjustment as part of the airport’s FY2026 budget and was originally scheduled to take effect on September 1.

However, the airport postponed implementation to ease the impact on the community during construction of the Short-Term Solar Covered Parking project and the end-of-year holiday travel rush, according to the news release.

According to the news release, the adjustment reflects rising operational costs while allowing ELP to reinvest in parking facilities to enhance safety, infrastructure, reliability, and the overall passenger experience.

“Parking fees are a critical part of keeping the airport self-sustaining, meaning ELP does not operate using local tax dollars or the City’s general fund. As an enterprise fund, the airport relies on revenue from services such as parking to maintain and improve its facilities without burdening taxpayers,” read the news release.

Even after the adjustment, ELP remains among the most affordable airports in Texas and comparable to other airports of similar size nationwide, according to the news release.

“We’re committed to providing a high-quality, convenient experience for our passengers,” Tony Nevarez, airport director, said. “This rate adjustment supports continued investment in airport infrastructure and services, ensuring we can meet the growing needs of our region.”
