Rain chances Tuesday, cold front brings temperature drop

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – A cold front pushing through the region Tuesday morning will bring noticeably cooler temperatures. Isolated rain chances throughout the day are expected for the southern portion of the viewing area.

Cloud coverage overnight and this morning kept temperatures well above normal in the 40s to 50s.

The cold front reached the northern part of the region around sunrise Tuesday. As the front passes, winds will shift to the north, ushering in cooler air.

Highs Tuesday will remain above seasonal normal in the 60s across much of the region, but the cooler trend will be noticeable compared to recent days.

Isolated rain showers have developed this morning as an upper-level system moves just south of the area. The greatest chances for rain remain across the southern South Plains.

Rain chances will gradually end before midnight as the system moves away from the region.

Tonight’s lows vary widely

Clearing skies, eventually, and light winds Tuesday night will allow for significant cooling. Lows will range from the upper 20s over them northern part of the region to the lower 40s for the areas off to the south, depending on cloud coverage.

High chances of widespread rainfall are expected late this week as moisture continues to move into the region.
